SF-1-F Copper-Plated Flanged Composite Bushings (DU-Type)

SF-1-F Copper-Plated Flanged Composite Bushings (DU-Type)

BONIU supplies SF-1-F copper-plated flanged composite bushings for assemblies that need a compact sleeve bearing with a flange for axial location. These DU-type composite bushings combine a split cylindrical sleeve and an integral flange, allowing the bearing to support a shaft while locating the component against a housing face.

SF-1-F Flanged Composite Bushings

The flanged shape is suited to bearing positions where radial guidance and axial location are needed in the same compact assembly. Typical enquiries involve rotating or oscillating shafts, pivots, linkages and other mechanisms with limited installation space. Suitability depends on the actual load, speed, shaft condition and environment.

The copper-plated exterior is the specified surface finish of this product. Copper plating does not mean that the entire bushing is made from solid copper or bronze. When replacing an existing part, please provide its drawing and operating requirements so that the construction and finish can be confirmed.

Composite Construction and Copper-Plated Finish

SF-1 is commonly used as a designation for a metal-backed composite bearing with a low-friction PTFE-based running layer. For your order, BONIU will confirm the backing material, intermediate layer, lining and exterior finish against the agreed specification. The running surface, backing and plating perform different functions and should be identified separately when comparing quotations.

The sleeve provides radial support, while the flange provides an axial locating face. Any load carried by the flange must be checked for the actual application; a locating flange should not be assumed to have an unrestricted thrust-load capacity.

We use “DU-type” as a product-family description. It does not identify a branded original product or establish interchangeability with a particular manufacturer’s bearing.

Dimensions and Ordering Information

Send a dimensioned drawing or the following information for a quotation. The exact dimensions, tolerances and available sizes will be confirmed before production.

Item Information to provide
Sleeve dimensions Inside diameter, outside diameter and overall length; state whether length includes the flange.
Flange dimensions Flange outside diameter, thickness and corner or transition requirements.
Fit and mating parts Shaft and housing dimensions, tolerances, materials and surface condition.
Construction and finish Required composite specification and copper plating requirements.
Operating conditions Radial and axial loads, speed or oscillation angle, temperature, lubrication and contaminants.
Order details Quantity, drawing revision, inspection needs, packaging and destination.

Installation and Application Review

Clean the housing and shaft and remove burrs before assembly. Use a suitable guided pressing tool to install the sleeve squarely, supporting the part so that the flange and running surface are protected. Avoid direct hammering and check that the flange seats correctly against the intended housing face.

Confirm the shaft finish, housing fit and installed clearance with the approved drawing. Installation can affect the final bore of a thin-wall split bearing, so an uninstalled bore measurement alone may not describe the working clearance. Do not ream, scrape or machine the lining without approval for the specific bearing.

Lubrication strategy and allowable operating conditions should be reviewed for the application. A low-friction composite lining does not remove the need to assess contamination, heat, edge loading, misalignment and wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between SF-1 and SF-1-F?

In this product range, SF-1 describes a straight composite sleeve, while SF-1-F has an integral flange. Confirm dimensions and construction from the actual drawing rather than relying on the designation alone.

Is the copper-plated bushing made from solid copper?

No. Copper plating describes the exterior finish. The backing and bearing layers must be specified separately.

Can the flange carry axial load?

The flange provides an axial locating surface. Any axial bearing duty must be checked against the load, sliding conditions, contact area and approved product specification.

Can you quote a replacement from a sample or drawing?

Yes. Send the drawing or sample dimensions, quantity and operating conditions. BONIU will review the geometry and material requirements before confirming the replacement specification.

What should I send for a quotation?

Provide the bore, outside diameter, length, flange diameter and thickness, plus quantity and application details. Include a drawing revision and any inspection or plating requirements.

Copper-plated replacement sleeves: separate finish from bearing specification

For a replacement enquiry, identify the copper-plated exterior separately from the PTFE-based running layer and the metal backing. Matching colour is insufficient to match a bearing. This page owns the copper-finish requirement; the tin-finish version remains a separate specification.

Drawing review Information for quotation
Construction State the approved backing and lining specification, plus any substance or compliance requirements.
Exterior finish Define coating coverage, thickness or acceptance criteria if required; identify surfaces excluded from coating.
Installed geometry Give housing fit, shaft size, flange seating face and required installed clearance.

Installation and operating boundaries

Use the approved pressing method and protect the split sleeve’s lining and flange transition. Confirm the installed bore in the specified housing, rather than accepting a free-state measurement alone. Do not transfer another supplier’s temperature or speed limits to an SF-1 designation.

Include the drawing revision, quantity, required delivery destination and inspection-document requirements. Photographs show geometry; they do not establish an alloy grade, coating test result or service rating. BONIU reviews the requested specification before confirming the quotation.

Purchasing questions

Does copper plating specify a solid-bronze backing?

No. The exterior finish and backing material are separate requirements.

Can I approve a substitute by outside dimensions alone?

No. Review lining, backing, flange thickness, fit, installed clearance and exterior treatment.

Can the tin-plated version be supplied under the same order description?

Only through an approved specification change. Keep the required finish explicit in the drawing and purchase order.
