SF-1-F Tin-Plated Flanged Composite Bushings (DU-Type)

SF-1-F Tin-Plated Flanged Composite Bushings (DU-Type)

BONIU supplies SF-1-F tin-plated flanged composite bushings for compact bearing positions requiring radial guidance and axial location. The split sleeve and integral flange fit assemblies where installation space is limited. Send your drawing and operating conditions to confirm the appropriate construction, dimensions and finish.

SF-1-F with a Tin-Plated Exterior

This product is specified with tin plating on the exterior. The silver-coloured finish is distinct from the copper-plated version in our range. The plating describes the surface finish; it does not identify the material of the entire bearing or replace the need to specify the backing and running layer.

SF-1 commonly describes a metal-backed composite bearing with a PTFE-based low-friction lining. BONIU confirms the backing material, intermediate layer, lining and plating against the agreed order specification. The sleeve supports radial bearing duty, while the flange provides an axial locating face. Any sliding thrust duty at the flange must be reviewed for the actual load and contact conditions.

Typical enquiries include pivots, linkages, oscillating joints and shaft guidance in machinery. Suitability depends on load, speed, temperature, shaft finish and the working environment. “DU-type” is used as a product-family description and does not identify a branded original bearing or establish interchangeability with a specific manufacturer’s product.

Dimensions and Quotation Checklist

Send a dimensioned drawing or the following details. Available dimensions and tolerances will be confirmed with the quotation.

Requirement Details to provide
Sleeve Inside diameter, outside diameter and length; clarify whether length includes the flange.
Flange Outside diameter, thickness and transition geometry.
Fit Shaft and housing dimensions, tolerances, materials and surface condition.
Finish Tin plating requirements and any coating inspection criteria.
Operation Radial and axial loads, speed or oscillation, temperature, lubrication and contaminants.
Order Quantity, drawing revision, inspection documents, packaging and destination.

Installation and Service Conditions

Clean and deburr the housing and shaft before assembly. Press the sleeve squarely with a suitable guided tool and protect both the flange and the lining. Check that the flange seats against the intended housing face without distortion. Avoid direct hammering.

Check installed clearance against the approved drawing. Press-fitting a thin-wall split bushing can affect its bore, so a free-state bore measurement alone does not establish working clearance. Do not ream or scrape the lining without approval for the specific construction.

Confirm the shaft finish and lubrication strategy for the application. Low-friction composite materials still require assessment of heat, contamination, edge loading, misalignment and wear. Exterior tin plating alone does not establish suitability for a corrosive environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the tin-plated version differ from the copper-plated version?

The exterior plating is different. Confirm the underlying composite construction, dimensions and application requirements separately when selecting either version.

Is the bearing made from solid tin?

No. Tin plating is an exterior surface finish. The backing and running layer are separate parts of the composite construction.

Does the flange act as a thrust bearing?

The flange provides axial location. Any axial sliding load must be checked against the bearing specification and operating conditions.

Can BONIU review a replacement drawing?

Yes. Send the drawing, required quantity and operating conditions so we can review geometry, material, finish and fit before confirming an order.

Can I order this without a drawing?

Provide the bore, outside diameter, sleeve length, flange diameter and thickness. A drawing or approved dimensional confirmation is needed to avoid ambiguity before production.

Tin-plated sleeves: define coating acceptance and exposure

Use this enquiry route where the drawing specifies a tin-plated exterior. Document the actual exposure: indoor condensation, washdown, process chemicals and immersion are different service conditions. Tin plating alone does not establish a corrosion-life guarantee or suitability for a particular fluid.

Drawing review Information for quotation
Coating acceptance Give required coverage, thickness or test criteria and the governing specification where applicable.
Environment List fluids or cleaners, concentration where relevant, exposure duration and service temperature.
Bearing duty State radial and axial loads, motion, shaft finish, fit and permitted wear or clearance.

Installation and operating boundaries

Check that handling and pressing do not damage the lining or intended coating. Confirm the flange seats without distortion and verify installed clearance. The exterior treatment cannot compensate for an unsuitable backing, lining or shaft counterface.

Include the drawing revision, quantity, required delivery destination and inspection-document requirements. Photographs show geometry; they do not establish an alloy grade, coating test result or service rating. BONIU reviews the requested specification before confirming the quotation.

Purchasing questions

Can the silver appearance prove tin plating thickness?

No. Coating identity and thickness require an agreed specification and the specified verification, not a photograph.

Does this establish suitability for seawater?

No. Fluid exposure, backing, edge protection, counterface and the complete assembly require review.

Should I order tin or copper plating for a replacement?

Follow the approved drawing. If the original treatment is unknown, identify it before authorising a substitution.
