SF-1 Steel-Backed PTFE Bushings for Industrial Foot-Pedal Shafts

SF-1 Steel-Backed PTFE Bushings for Industrial Foot-Pedal Shafts

Request a replacement SF-1 / DU-type split sleeve for the cross-shaft of an industrial foot pedal. The requested material stack is steel backing, a porous sintered bronze interlayer and a PTFE-based sliding layer. Confirm the exact build and lining formulation in the quotation; DU-type does not claim original-brand supply.

Check return torque at the installed bearing fit

A pedal may rotate through a short arc and spend much of its life at rest. Supply the applied force, pedal arm length, angular stroke, return-spring torque and shaft support spacing. Check whether two supports are coaxial. A small free-state sleeve bore measurement does not define installed clearance; housing fit and shaft size must be assessed together.

The steel backing provides the structural shell, the sintered bronze supports the sliding-layer system, and PTFE identifies the running-layer family. Do not confuse exterior plating with any of these layers. Fillers, lining thickness and exact steel grade remain order specification items; another manufacturer’s DU data must not be adopted as BONIU ratings. Keep the split sleeve distinct from an open shaft-access bearing.

Application boundaries to confirm

Identify floor grit, cleaning water, oils and other fluids around the pedal. The bearing alone does not establish the reliability of a safety control or emergency-stop system. A sticking linkage, worn spring or bent shaft requires inspection independently of bushing replacement.

SF-1 steel-backed bronze-interlayer PTFE composite enquiry requirements
Review item Information required
Sleeve and housing Bore, OD, length, housing fit, chamfer and installed running clearance.
Material stack Steel backing grade, sintered bronze interlayer, PTFE formulation and exterior finish.
Pedal mechanics Arm length, force, stroke, spring torque, support spacing and stop arrangement.
Order checks Quantity, revision, shaft finish, cleaning exposure and assembly inspection requirements.

Send a dimensioned new-part drawing with units and revision, the mating-part dimensions and requested inspection documents. A worn sample is useful supporting evidence but may not preserve the original fit.

Installation and selection checks

Use a guided mandrel to insert the sleeve squarely and protect its lining edge. Follow the specified split orientation. Do not scrape or ream the PTFE surface to cure binding without an approved process. Verify clearance and pedal return with the full shaft and retention stack installed before reconnecting the machine control.

Frequently asked questions

Can the split be opened to clip over a shaft?

No. The wrapped seam is not a shaft-access opening; follow the intended press-in assembly.

Does PTFE mean the pedal can never stick?

No. Alignment, installed fit, contamination and the return mechanism remain important.

Can another DU brochure define this order’s limits?

No. Confirm the exact BONIU build and application requirements; a family name does not establish interchangeability.
