Graphite Guide Bushings for Paper-Cutter Backgauge Posts

Graphite Guide Bushings for Paper-Cutter Backgauge Posts

A paper cutter’s backgauge must travel square to the cutting line while supporting the paper stack. This enquiry concerns straight graphite-plugged sleeves on round guide posts, with the drive screw or belt treated as a separate mechanism.

Review the two-guide arrangement and gauge squareness

Show the guide-post centre distance, the spacing between bushings on each post and the backgauge overhang. The bearing sleeves guide linear travel; they are not drive nuts. If the existing guide uses rolling elements or an adjustable gib, changing to a plain sleeve requires a review of friction, clearance and drive capacity.

Operating conditions and selection boundaries

Provide carriage mass, stack-contact force, stroke, travel speed, reversal frequency and required gauge squareness. Include paper dust, trim particles and the cleaning arrangement. An alloy grade such as CuZn25Al5Mn4Fe3 should be ordered only when specified and confirmed; it is not automatically the same as a foreign bronze designation.

The bushing is a guide component, not a blade guide, safety device or guarantee of cutting accuracy. Installation and acceptance remain tied to the machine design.

Specify the exact material standard, alloy or composite construction and any certificate requirements in the enquiry. Different national material designations are not treated as automatic equivalents. Availability and manufacturing details are confirmed in the quotation.

Dimensions and drawing information for quotation

Drawing feature Information to provide
Guide layout Post diameter, centre spacing, bushing spacing and unsupported length.
Gauge geometry Backgauge width, overhang, contact force and permitted squareness error.
Sleeve drawing Bore, OD, length, chamfers, fits and graphite specification.
Drive and exposure Drive force margin, speed, reversals, paper dust and protection.

Include quantity, units, drawing revision, inspection requirements and delivery destination. Distinguish measured wear from the intended new-part dimensions.

Installation and acceptance checks

Align guide-post axes and housing bores from the machine datums. Verify installed bore clearance and full-stroke travel without using the drive to force a binding carriage. Check gauge squareness and position using the machine’s approved acceptance procedure after assembly.

Confirm the lubrication and inspection plan for the specified material and duty. The application name does not establish a load rating, service-life guarantee or approval for the complete machine.

Frequently asked questions

Can it replace the drive nut?

No. This sleeve supports a round guide post; the backgauge drive has a separate force-transmission function.

Why is bearing spacing required?

The post and sleeve layout must be reviewed against the overhung backgauge moment and alignment requirement.

Can the pictured sizes be ordered directly?

The photograph is illustrative. Send actual dimensions, fits and material requirements for quotation.

Request a drawing-based quotation

Send the assembly section, component drawing, quantity and operating conditions for paper cutter backgauge guide bushings. BONIU will review the geometry, material and installation requirements before confirming the quotation.
