JDBS Spherical Plain Bearings for Industrial Damper Linkages

A damper actuator may drive a lever through a linkage whose joint angle changes during travel. JDBS steel-outer, copper-alloy-inner spherical plain bearings can be reviewed for this articulated interface. This page covers an industrial linkage joint; no fire, smoke-control or safety-system approval is implied.

Allow the linkage joint to articulate without clevis interference
Actuator force and linkage angle determine joint loading at each travel position. Clevis shoulders and spacers can limit the usable articulation before the bearing reaches its geometric limit. Exposure at the external linkage must be distinguished from duct-gas temperature and chemistry.
Start with the matching BONIU product construction. Send the assembly section as well as the individual bearing drawing so that the working contact, locating surfaces and installation access can be reviewed together.
Dimensions and operating data for quotation
| Review item | Required information |
|---|---|
| Motion envelope | Open/closed positions, articulation in each plane, clevis section and spacer dimensions. |
| Joint interfaces | Pin bore, outside diameter, inner/outer ring widths, fits and axial retention. |
| Force and exposure | Actuator force versus position, reversals, dwell, actual joint temperature, dust and corrosion exposure. |
| Purchase specification | Drawing revision, quantity, units, exact material or composite specification, finish, inspection-document requirements and delivery destination. |
Selection boundaries and installation
Apply fitting force to the ring being installed, with suitable support. Do not press across the spherical sliding interface. Check articulation after the clevis and pin are fully assembled; spacers and shoulders must not clamp the moving interface unintentionally. Confirm maintenance and environmental protection for the actual joint.
Material and replacement approval
For copper-alloy parts, state the exact standard and grade required by the design. JDB/500# and geometry codes do not establish chemical composition. Do not treat different national alloy designations as interchangeable without checking their specifications. Product colour and a reused image cannot confirm material. Required documentation, dimensions and manufacturing scope are reviewed with the quotation.
The application description is a design-review starting point. No stock availability, service-life guarantee, machine approval, universal load limit or test result is claimed. Contact pressure, motion, temperature, counterface condition and the assembled load path must be checked for the chosen specification.
Purchasing questions
Does spherical geometry allow any installation angle?
No. Check the complete clevis and spacer envelope and the allowable loaded movement.
Can the duct temperature be used as the joint temperature?
Not automatically. Provide the actual or design temperature at the bearing location.
Is JDBS a threaded rod end?
This product is the spherical bearing component. Specify a separate housing or rod-end assembly if the design requires one.
Can the original product image be used to approve this application?
No. It illustrates the bearing structure. Use the approved part and assembly drawings to confirm dimensions, material, clearance and duty.
