Square-Flange Graphite-Plugged Bushings

Square-Flange Graphite-Plugged Bushings

Graphite-plugged copper-alloy bushings with a square four-hole mounting flange. Custom geometry and operating requirements are reviewed against your drawing.

Square mounting flange with a graphite-plugged sleeve

BONIU square-flange graphite-plugged bushings combine a cylindrical copper-alloy sleeve with a square mounting flange. Embedded graphite plugs form part of the solid-lubricant bearing system. The sleeve guides the mating shaft, while the flange provides a defined mounting interface to the surrounding structure.

The illustrated design has four countersunk fixing holes. Flange profile, body length, hole geometry and graphite arrangement are confirmed from your drawing. The images illustrate the form and do not define a standard size or material grade.

Load direction, motion and material selection

Review radial load, shaft movement and alignment together. Tell us whether the shaft rotates, oscillates or moves linearly, and provide the normal load, peak load, speed or stroke, duty cycle and operating environment.

The square flange is a mounting feature. Do not assume its face is a lubricated thrust bearing: axial capacity and the intended load path require a separate review. Where an axial sliding face is needed, also consider a graphite-plugged thrust washer.

Specify the copper-alloy grade and solid-lubricant requirements. Colour alone cannot identify alloy composition. Dry-running suitability, lubrication instructions and operating limits depend on the selected material pair and duty; they are confirmed during technical review.

A four-hole pattern does not establish compatibility with another flange bushing. Compare the complete drawing, including bore position and sleeve projection, before approving a replacement.

Installation and alignment

  1. Clean and inspect the housing bore, flange seating face and shaft. Remove burrs and debris before assembly.
  2. Confirm whether the sleeve requires an interference fit or a clearance fit. Use the specified assembly method; the bolts should not pull a misaligned sleeve into place.
  3. If press fitting is specified, use a suitable aligned mandrel and controlled pressure. Avoid hammering or pressing against unsupported flange corners.
  4. Seat the flange evenly and tighten the specified fasteners in a controlled sequence to the assembly requirements. Check that fasteners do not interfere with moving parts.
  5. Check the installed bore, alignment and free shaft movement. Follow the agreed lubrication instructions and inspect noise, temperature and wear during commissioning.

Confirm the installed fit and assembly procedure for the actual design. A generic fit or tightening torque should not be selected from the product photograph.

Applications and related designs

Review this mounting form for tooling, guide assemblies and machinery where a square bolted interface suits the available space. Account for shock loads, contamination, misalignment and access for maintenance when selecting the design.

Compare other mounting flange bushings, flanged graphite bushings and straight graphite-plugged bushings. For material information, see the copper-alloy composition guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does the square flange automatically carry thrust load?

No. Confirm the axial load path, flange strength and lubrication of any working face separately.

Can you review a different hole spacing or body length?

Send the complete dimensioned drawing. Geometry, manufacturing feasibility, material and quantity are reviewed before quotation.

Is a square flange interchangeable with a round flange?

Only after reviewing the complete mounting envelope, hole pattern, fits and load path. Matching bore size alone is insufficient.

Does graphite mean no maintenance is needed?

No. Follow the agreed lubrication and inspection instructions for the material and operating duty.
