MPGZ / OFP01 Graphite-Plugged Bronze Flanged Thrust Bushings

BONIU supplies MPGZ / OFP01 graphite-plugged bronze flanged thrust bushings with solid lubricant plugs embedded in the flange face. This construction is intended for bearing positions that combine shaft guidance with an axial sliding contact at the flange. Send your drawing and working conditions so we can confirm the bearing geometry, copper alloy and graphite arrangement for your application.
MPGZ / OFP01 Flanged Thrust Bushings
The cylindrical sleeve provides radial guidance, while the flange forms an axial contact face. Graphite plugs on the flange distinguish this thrust-style design from a flanged bushing whose flange is used only for location. The product photographs show the graphite-plugged bearing surfaces and the relationship between the sleeve and flange.

Potential applications include pivots, linkages, guide mechanisms and other assemblies where a shaft or pin needs radial support together with controlled axial contact. Bearing selection must consider both load directions and the actual sliding motion. A flange does not provide an unlimited axial load rating.
Graphite Plugs on the Flange Thrust Face
The metal body supports the load, while the embedded graphite provides solid lubrication at the intended sliding surfaces. The flange face must be matched to a suitable counterface, with adequate contact area and alignment. Confirm which surfaces require graphite plugs on the drawing; the bore pattern, flange pattern and plug distribution are separate design details.

MPGZ and OFP01 are used here as the requested product designations. Dimensions and performance should be checked against the actual drawing and agreed material specification before replacing another supplier’s part. The gold-coloured appearance alone does not establish the copper alloy grade.
BONIU can review your drawing for the required bore, outside diameter, sleeve length, flange diameter and thickness. Material grade, graphite specification, fits and inspection requirements are confirmed with the quotation rather than inferred from photographs.

Dimensions and Application Data for Quotation
Please send a drawing or complete the following information. Clarify whether the stated length includes the flange and identify the thrust face that contacts the mating component.
| Item | Information required |
|---|---|
| Sleeve dimensions | Bore, outside diameter, overall length and sleeve length below the flange. |
| Flange dimensions | Flange outside diameter, thickness, transition radius and any relief. |
| Graphite pattern | Required plugs on bore and flange, contact side and drawing-defined distribution. |
| Material | Copper alloy grade, graphite specification and any additional surface requirements. |
| Mating components | Shaft, housing and thrust counterface material, finish, dimensions and fits. |
| Operating conditions | Radial and axial loads, rotation or oscillation, speed, temperature and contamination. |
| Order requirements | Quantity, drawing revision, inspection documents, packaging and destination. |
For other geometries, browse our graphite-plugged bushings and graphite-plugged thrust washers. A separate thrust washer may suit some assemblies; the choice depends on the installation and load path.

Installation and Thrust-Face Contact
Clean and deburr the housing, shaft and mating thrust surface before fitting. Use a suitable pressing tool to install the bushing squarely. Apply installation force through an adequately supported metal area and protect the flange and graphite plugs from impact. Do not hammer directly on the bearing or its plugs.
Check radial clearance and axial clearance against the approved assembly drawing. Ensure that the flange face contacts the intended counterface without interference at the sleeve-to-flange transition. Misalignment or an uneven mating face can concentrate the load at an edge rather than across the intended bearing area.
Review lubrication, running-in and maintenance requirements for the specific alloy, graphite formulation and service conditions. Solid lubricant plugs do not eliminate the need to assess wear, heat, contamination and corrosion. Do not machine the bearing surfaces or change the graphite pattern without confirming the effect on the approved design.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this a thrust-style flanged bushing?
The flange face contains graphite plugs for the specified axial sliding contact. The sleeve provides radial guidance. Both load directions must be checked for the application.
Are MPGZ and OFP01 automatically interchangeable?
No designation alone establishes interchangeability. Compare the drawing, material, graphite pattern, tolerances and working conditions before confirming a replacement.
Does the flange need graphite if the bore already has plugs?
The bore and flange are different contact surfaces. Where the flange carries sliding axial contact, specify the required flange lubrication arrangement separately on the drawing.
Can you supply custom dimensions?
Send the required dimensions, alloy, quantity and operating details. BONIU will review the drawing and confirm manufacturing and inspection requirements with the quotation.
What information is needed to check axial loading?
Provide axial force, contact area, counterface material and finish, sliding motion, speed, temperature and expected duty. The flange dimensions alone do not establish a safe load rating.

Combined radial and thrust support: define two contact interfaces
Use this enquiry route when a linkage pin needs bore guidance and its moving member also bears against the graphite-plugged flange. The drawing must show which component moves relative to the sleeve and which face slides on the flange. Axial location alone is a different duty from repeated loaded thrust sliding.
| Drawing review | Information for quotation |
|---|---|
| Bore contact | Give pin diameter, loaded sleeve length, radial load, oscillation angle and cycle rate. |
| Flange contact | Give axial force, effective annular contact area, counterface flatness and surface finish. |
| Assembly stack | Show shoulder radii, corner relief, axial clearance and the direction of the thrust reaction. |
Installation and operating boundaries
Check that the mating shoulder reaches the intended bearing face before a shaft radius or housing corner bottoms out. Assess simultaneous radial and axial duty together; two separately acceptable contacts do not automatically establish an acceptable combined thermal duty. No generic thrust rating is assigned here.
Include the drawing revision, quantity, required delivery destination and inspection-document requirements. Photographs show geometry; they do not establish an alloy grade, coating test result or service rating. BONIU reviews the requested specification before confirming the quotation.
Purchasing questions
Can I replace a separate sleeve and thrust washer with this part?
Only after the assembly stack, contact areas and retention have been reviewed. A combined flange changes the axial stack and may change how the sleeve is installed.
Does graphite in the bore lubricate the flange?
Treat them as separate sliding interfaces. Identify the flange plug pattern and the loaded side explicitly.
Which material grade should I put on the RFQ?
State the exact standard and grade required by the design. JDB/500# and MPGZ/OFP01 are family or geometry descriptions, not chemical specifications.
