MPKZ / OFP03 Graphite-Plugged Flanged Thrust Bushings with Counterbored Mounting Holes

MPKZ / OFP03 Graphite-Plugged Flanged Thrust Bushings with Counterbored Mounting Holes

BONIU supplies MPKZ / OFP03 graphite-plugged copper-alloy flanged thrust bushings with counterbored mounting holes. The bearing combines a sleeve for radial guidance, graphite plugs on the flange thrust face, and cylindrical recesses for the mounting fastener heads. Send your drawing and operating conditions so we can confirm the material, bearing geometry and fixing arrangement for your assembly.

MPKZ / OFP03 Flanged Thrust Bushings

The sleeve and flange serve different bearing functions. The sleeve guides a shaft or pin under the specified radial duty, while the graphite-plugged flange provides the intended axial sliding contact. The mounting holes retain the bearing in its supporting structure. Bearing loads, fixing loads and the supporting structure should be reviewed together.

Potential enquiries include pivots, linkages, guide mechanisms and other machinery positions needing radial support, axial sliding contact and flange retention. Suitability depends on load, speed, motion, alignment and the working environment. Neither the flange nor its fasteners should be assigned a load rating from appearance alone.

The metal body supports the bearing load, while embedded graphite supplies solid lubrication at the specified contact surfaces. Confirm the copper alloy grade and graphite specification with the order. The gold-coloured surface does not establish the alloy grade, and solid lubricant plugs do not remove the need to assess heat, wear and contamination.

Counterbored Flange Mounting Holes

The mounting recess is cylindrical and has a seating shoulder for the selected fastener head. Specify the through-hole diameter, counterbore diameter and depth together with the screw-head dimensions. The assembly drawing should also define the hole quantity, pitch-circle diameter and angular positions.

Counterbore dimensions and fastener seating must match the approved assembly.

Where a mating component moves across the flange face, confirm the installed screw-head position and clearance from the sliding path. The remaining metal thickness beneath each counterbore and the flange support also require review. Do not assume that a deeper recess is acceptable without checking the drawing.

For a conical fastener-head recess, see our MPSZ / OFP02 with countersunk mounting holes. The related MPGZ / OFP01 thrust-flange range is also available. Compare the actual drawings before selecting a replacement; model names alone do not confirm interchangeability.

Dimensions and Quotation Requirements

Please provide a dimensioned drawing and identify the working thrust face. Clarify whether the specified length includes the flange. BONIU will confirm dimensions, materials and inspection requirements for the quoted part.

Installation and Fastener-Head Clearance

Clean and deburr the housing, shaft, flange seat and mounting holes. Fit the sleeve squarely with suitable guided tooling and protect the graphite plugs from impact. Confirm the housing fit, shaft clearance and flange seating before tightening the fixings.

Use the specified fasteners and check that the heads seat correctly in the counterbores. Follow the assembly drawing for torque and tightening sequence. Confirm that the flange is supported evenly and that tightening has not distorted the bearing. Inspect both radial movement and axial clearance after installation.

Check that fastener heads remain clear of the mating component throughout its motion. The thrust counterface should have the agreed material, finish and alignment so that the intended contact area carries the load. Review lubrication, running-in and maintenance requirements for the specific bearing construction and service conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a counterbored mounting hole?

It is a through-hole with a larger cylindrical recess for a fastener head. Specify the recess diameter, depth and seating geometry to match the chosen screw.

How does this differ from MPSZ / OFP02?

This MPKZ / OFP03 product uses counterbored mounting recesses. The MPSZ / OFP02 page describes conical countersunk recesses. Confirm all dimensions and bearing specifications from the drawings.

Why is graphite embedded in the flange?

The flange is intended to provide the specified axial sliding contact. Graphite plugs on that face supply solid lubrication at this contact, separately from the bore’s radial bearing surface.

Can any socket-head screw be used?

No. Verify the actual head dimensions, counterbore clearance, thread engagement, installation torque and required head position against the assembly design.

Can BONIU quote custom dimensions or hole patterns?

Send the complete drawing, material requirements, quantity and operating conditions. BONIU will review the bearing geometry and mounting details before confirming the quotation.

Request an MPKZ / OFP03 Quote

Counterbores for socket-head screw mounting

Choose this enquiry when the assembly uses a cylindrical screw-head pocket with a flat seating shoulder. The screw head, driver access and residual metal below the recess are separate design constraints. This is a different mounting interface from the conical seats of MPSZ/OFP02.

Drawing review Information for quotation
Head pocket Specify counterbore diameter and depth, through-hole diameter and screw head height.
Remaining section Dimension the flange thickness and material beneath the screw seating shoulder.
Access and location Show tightening-tool clearance, fixing coordinates and the locating pilot or fitted sleeve surface.

Installation and operating boundaries

Verify that the head seats on the intended shoulder without bottoming on an incompatible corner radius. Check the pocket depth against the screw head and the moving component’s clearance. Keep the locating diameter seated while tightening to the designer’s specification, then check bore alignment and thrust-face contact.

Include the drawing revision, quantity, required delivery destination and inspection-document requirements. Photographs show geometry; they do not establish an alloy grade, coating test result or service rating. BONIU reviews the requested specification before confirming the quotation.

Purchasing questions

Can I deepen the counterbore on site?

Do not modify it without drawing approval. Removing material changes the remaining section and may intersect graphite plugs or alter flange support.

Will the bolt pattern alone make this a drop-in replacement?

No. Compare bore, sleeve length, flange thickness, pilot dimensions, recess details, fits and material specification.

What makes this page different from the countersunk version?

It specifies a flat-bottomed cylindrical head pocket and its seating depth rather than a conical screw seat.
