Spiral Oil-Grooved Copper Alloy Bushings

BONIU supplies custom copper-alloy sleeve bushings with spiral oil grooves for drawing-defined lubricated bearing assemblies. The illustrated cylindrical sleeves have helical channels machined into the bore. Send the required alloy, dimensions, groove specification and operating conditions for a quotation.
Spiral Oil-Grooved Copper Alloy Sleeve Bushings
A one-piece metal sleeve provides the cylindrical bearing surface, while internal spiral grooves form part of the specified lubricant route. These parts may be described in procurement drawings as helical oil-groove bushings, spiral-grooved bronze sleeve bearings or custom grooved copper-alloy bushes. The exact material designation must be confirmed before production; colour and photographs do not identify a certified alloy.

The supplied photographs show machined sleeves and internal groove details. They do not establish nominal dimensions, material grade, permissible load or speed. An external circumferential groove is visible on one example; its function and dimensions must be specified separately if required.
Specify the Helical Groove and Lubricant Feed Together
Define groove width, depth, pitch, handedness, number of starts and start/end positions from drawing datums. Show how each internal groove connects to any oil hole, external distribution groove or housing feed passage. A visible spiral groove alone does not establish a complete lubrication system or a guaranteed pumping direction.
Confirm whether the assembly uses oil or grease, its supply method, lubricant specification and replenishment interval. Review rotation direction, reversing motion, end leakage and the remaining bearing contact area when selecting the groove layout. A groove should not be widened or deepened without reviewing its effect on the approved bearing design.

This plain grooved sleeve is quoted for the agreed lubricated duty. Oil grooves alone do not make it a graphite-plugged, oil-impregnated or maintenance-free bearing. For a solid-lubricant construction, see graphite-plugged bushings.
Grooved Sleeve Bearings for Machinery Shafts and Pivot Assemblies
Potential enquiries include replacement sleeves for lubricated machinery shafts, oscillating linkage pivots and custom bearing housings with an existing lubricant supply. Suitability depends on radial load, motion, speed, alignment, temperature, contamination and the shaft surface. Provide the actual duty cycle rather than choosing solely by sleeve size.
State the required copper-alloy grade and material standard. If comparing tin bronze, high-tensile brass or another copper alloy, provide the same operating conditions for each option. BONIU will review the material and manufacturing requirements against the drawing before confirming supply. No alloy equivalence or performance rating is implied by the product name.

Installation and Lubrication Checks
Clean and deburr the sleeve, housing, shaft and feed passages. Protect the groove edges and finished bore. Use the specified installation method and tooling; avoid striking the bearing surface directly.
Check the installed bore and running clearance after fitting, because housing interference can change the finished bore. Verify alignment and ensure oil holes and distribution grooves connect to the intended feed. Confirm the specified lubricant reaches the bearing surface before operation and follow the agreed replenishment procedure.
During initial operation, monitor temperature, lubricant supply, noise and wear. Investigate binding, misalignment or inadequate lubrication before continued service. Confirm all fits and lubrication settings against the assembly drawing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a bronze or brass bushing?
The product family is copper alloy. The photograph does not establish the grade. Specify the required alloy and standard so the material can be confirmed in the quotation.
Can you make a custom spiral groove?
Send the groove profile, width, depth, pitch, handedness, number of starts and feed connections. BONIU reviews the drawing before confirming manufacture.
Does a spiral groove mean the bearing can run dry?
No. This plain grooved sleeve requires the agreed lubrication arrangement. Dry operation must not be assumed from the groove geometry.
Can an external groove and oil holes be included?
Include their dimensions and locations on the drawing, together with the housing feed arrangement. Each connection is reviewed as part of the lubricant route.
Can you quote a replacement sleeve?
Provide the existing drawing or measured dimensions, alloy requirement, shaft and housing details, groove geometry, quantity and service conditions. Identify worn dimensions separately from intended manufacturing dimensions.
