SF-1 PTFE Bushings for Hydraulic-Cylinder Clevis Pins

SF-1 PTFE Bushings for Hydraulic-Cylinder Clevis Pins

Hydraulic cylinder clevis pin PTFE bushings are considered here for the external mounting-eye or linkage-pin interface. BONIU SF-1/DU-type split sleeves are a thin-wall composite starting point for review. This page does not cover the internal piston, rod seal or pressure-containing cylinder bore.

Review the mounting-eye pivot independently of the rod guide

The cylinder force is transmitted through the pin and the clevis cheeks. Small-angle motion, reversals and lateral misalignment can concentrate contact at the sleeve edge. A cylindrical sleeve does not provide the articulation of a spherical joint. The complete clevis width, pin support and alignment are therefore part of the selection.

Start with the matching BONIU product construction. Send the assembly section as well as the individual bearing drawing so that the working contact, locating surfaces and installation access can be reviewed together.

Selection boundaries and installation

Press with a guided tool that protects the lining and split edge. Check installed clearance in the actual mounting eye. Keep axial clamping in the intended pin and spacer stack. Do not ream or scrape the PTFE-based lining without approval for the specific construction, and do not use the sleeve to force a misaligned clevis into line.

Material and replacement approval

For SF-1/DU-type composites, identify the backing, PTFE-based running layer and exterior finish separately. DU-type describes a product family here, not an original branded bearing or a guaranteed equivalent. Product colour and a reused image cannot confirm material. Required documentation, dimensions and manufacturing scope are reviewed with the quotation.

Agree the material, counterface, operating clearance and acceptance criteria before approving a replacement. Include any required dimensional inspection, material documentation or sample review with the RFQ so it can be addressed in the quotation.

Purchasing questions

Is this an internal hydraulic rod-guide bearing?

No. The application is the external clevis or mounting-eye pivot. Internal fluid and sealing duties need a separate specification.

Can this replace a spherical plain bearing?

Not automatically. Angular articulation, load distribution, fits and the assembly design differ.

Does the SF-1 designation establish a pressure rating?

No. Cylinder pressure is converted to joint forces by the mechanism; material and bearing duty must be reviewed separately.

Can the original product image be used to approve this application?

No. It illustrates the bearing structure. Use the approved part and assembly drawings to confirm dimensions, material, clearance and duty.

Request an application-specific quotation

Send your drawing and the checklist above through the BONIU enquiry page. Identify any proposed substitution explicitly so it can be reviewed before order confirmation.
