Recessed H-Flange Bushings for Carton-Erector Pickup Heads

Recessed H-Flange Bushings for Carton-Erector Pickup Heads

A carton-erector pickup head can move on parallel rods while vacuum cups pull a blank away from a stack. This enquiry concerns the rod sleeves in the moving head plate, where a recessed H-flange arrangement must fit between cup brackets and pneumatic fittings.

Package the locating collar inside the head plate

MPITZ/OFR12 uses a projecting locating collar and two opposite flange flats. For this application, show the counterbore that receives the collar and the clearance envelope around the flattened flange. Bolt access must remain available with the cups and hoses installed. Specify the bearing span and rod spacing; fitting one long sleeve into a thin plate does not by itself resolve the overturning moment from an offset vacuum pickup.

Operating conditions and selection boundaries

Provide moving mass, cup offset, acceleration, stroke, cycle rate and the direction of the largest overturning force. Paper dust and adhesive residue must be considered at the exposed guide rods. Graphite-plugged construction does not establish a cleanroom rating or permission for product contact.

This is a drawing-review option for the guide sleeves, not a complete vacuum head or a guarantee of carton-handling accuracy.

Specify the exact material standard, alloy or composite construction and any certificate requirements in the enquiry. Different national material designations are not treated as automatic equivalents. Availability and manufacturing details are confirmed in the quotation.

Dimensions and drawing information for quotation

Drawing feature Information to provide
Head plate Plate thickness, recess diameter/depth, flat spacing and fastener access.
Guide assembly Rod diameter, centre distance, bearing span, stroke and overhang.
Vacuum-head duty Pickup force, cup offset, moving mass and acceleration.
Material and fit Copper-alloy grade, graphite specification, installed bore and rod finish.

Include quantity, units, drawing revision, inspection requirements and delivery destination. Distinguish measured wear from the intended new-part dimensions.

Installation and acceptance checks

Locate the paired rods from common datums and verify free travel through the complete stroke before attaching the vacuum tooling. Tighten flange screws without pulling a misaligned head plate into position. Confirm collar seating and shaft clearance after tightening.

Confirm the lubrication and inspection plan for the specified material and duty. The application name does not establish a load rating, service-life guarantee or approval for the complete machine.

Frequently asked questions

Can the H-flange avoid a nearby vacuum fitting?

Provide a section view showing the fitting, flange flats, collar and screw-tool envelope. Clearance is checked against that assembly.

Does the collar replace rod alignment?

No. The collar locates the sleeve in its pocket; the rod pair and head plate still require alignment.

What should accompany a replacement request?

Include the head-plate drawing, original sleeve dimensions, rod spacing and the point where wear or binding occurs.
