JDBS Steel/Copper-Alloy Spherical Bearings for Vacuum-Spreader Equalizer Joints

Request a JDBS spherical plain bearing for the mechanical equalizer joint of a vacuum lifting spreader. The defined construction has a steel outer ring and a graphite-plugged copper-alloy spherical inner ring. This enquiry concerns articulation in the spreader linkage, separate from the vacuum seal, suction cup and vacuum-generation system.

Draw the entire articulation envelope around the joint
Provide the equalizer geometry, load distribution among lifting points and the angles reached during approach, lifting and release. Include both oscillation and tilt directions. Check pin shoulders, spacers, fork cheeks and seals throughout that envelope. Free movement of a loose bearing on a bench does not prove that the installed joint has enough clearance.
Specify the steel outer-ring grade and treatment separately from the copper-alloy inner-ring grade and graphite system. The product family does not establish the precise alloy of either member. A spherical sliding interface differs from a ball bearing with rolling elements and from a cylindrical bush. Do not copy load or angle limits from another manufacturer’s steel/steel spherical bearing into this steel/copper-alloy order.
Application boundaries to confirm
The bearing is not a vacuum component and no leak-tightness or lifting certification is claimed. Lifting capacity, redundancy and safety acceptance require review of the entire spreader. State moisture, glass dust, cleaning chemicals and sealing requirements for the joint itself.
Dimensions and drawing-based quotation checklist
| Review item | Information required |
|---|---|
| Bearing envelope | Bore, OD, inner/outer ring widths, chamfers and locating shoulders. |
| Angular travel | Tilt/oscillation in each direction, spacer profile and surrounding clearances. |
| Loading and fits | Joint force components, shock cases, pin/housing fits and ring retention. |
| Materials and order | Outer steel and inner copper-alloy grades, graphite, inspection requirements, quantity and revision. |
Send a dimensioned new-part drawing with units and revision, the mating-part dimensions and requested inspection documents. A worn sample is useful supporting evidence but may not preserve the original fit.
Installation and selection checks
Apply fitting force to the ring being installed, avoiding load through the spherical sliding pair. Verify retention without restricting articulation. Check the complete equalizer travel with its spacers, guards and seals fitted. Confirm commissioning lubrication and inspection requirements before the lifting assembly’s controlled acceptance procedure.
Frequently asked questions
Does a spherical bearing distribute the load equally by itself?
No. Load sharing depends on the equalizer geometry, friction and complete support arrangement.
Is it part of the vacuum seal?
No. It is a mechanical linkage bearing and does not certify vacuum integrity.
Can the inner ring be replaced alone?
Do not assume so. Review the matched sliding geometry, clearances and supplier’s assembly requirements.
