Bronze Bushings for Construction Machinery
Solutions / Construction machinery
Bronze bushings for construction machinery are selected for the particular pin joint, not just the machine name. BONIU BEARING reviews custom copper-alloy and graphite-plugged bushings for excavator linkages, loader pivots and cylinder-eye connections. Share the existing joint design, loads and service environment before choosing a material.
Slow oscillation, impacts and dirt make a pivot enquiry different from a clean rotating shaft application. A replacement must also account for the condition of the pin and housing. Worn surrounding parts can make a correctly manufactured new bushing appear to have excessive clearance.
Application positions and bearing choices
| Position | Product family to review | Critical enquiry details |
|---|---|---|
| Excavator or loader linkage | Solid copper-alloy or graphite-plugged sleeve | Peak joint load, impact duty, oscillation angle and lubrication plan |
| Hydraulic cylinder eye | Drawing-based pivot bushing | Pin condition, alignment, side loading and housing support |
| Locating flange at a joint | Flanged bushing | Flange clearance, retention and radial bearing length |
| Axial clearance control | Thrust washer when specified | Axial force, counterface, washer thickness and retention |
Material, fit and operating conditions
Graphite-bronze bushings for excavator linkage are one option to review where the drawing calls for a solid-lubricant copper-alloy bearing. They are not a universal replacement for hardened steel bushes. For a self-lubricating bushing for a loader pivot, compare the required load and speed with the selected grade’s data and account for seals, dirt exclusion and access for inspection.
Assembly requirements
Do not remove an existing lubrication system or substitute a bushing alloy without checking the complete joint. A hydraulic cylinder-eye bearing guides a pivot; it is a different component from a rod guide or a pump shaft bearing. Keep those enquiries separate.
Compare the specified alloy with our brass and bronze grade information. Send a required grade or standard explicitly; similar alloy names do not establish automatic equivalence.

What to send for a quotation
- New-part drawing plus measured pin and housing dimensions
- Radial and axial loads, shock events and working angle
- Operating speed, daily cycles and loaded idle periods
- Existing grease supply, seals, dust, mud and water exposure
- Material requirement, retention details, quantity and inspection scope
We review drawings or samples before confirming material, dimensions, availability and lead time. Agree first-article and inspection requirements at the enquiry stage so both sides use the same acceptance criteria.
Frequently asked questions
Can graphite bushings replace every excavator steel bushing?
No. Pin loading, impact, stiffness, wear pairing and lubrication differ between joints. We review the intended position and drawing before proposing a copper-alloy part.
Can you quote a custom bronze pivot bushing from a worn sample?
A sample can help establish geometry, but wear may hide original dimensions. Provide nominal sizes or assembly measurements and confirm the drawing before manufacture.
What information helps diagnose premature pivot wear?
Send photos of the pin, housing, seals and wear pattern, together with service duty and lubrication history. Material selection alone does not resolve contamination or misalignment.
